The Westpac Bicentennial Foundation has chosen UTS as the only Sydney-based university through which to offer its Young Technologists Scholarships for 2015.

The Young Technologists Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students with a passion for bringing about change through cutting-edge technology and innovation.

The scholarships, worth up to $25,000 each, are available to UTS information technology and ICT engineering undergraduate applicants who are currently in Year 12, completing the Higher School Certificate.

The scholarships will be awarded based on merit but also aim to address the current lack of gender balance and diversity in technology graduates.

UTS enjoys a long-standing partnership with Westpac, a founding sponsor of the Bachelor of Information Technology Co-operative Scholarship Program which started in 1988.

In addition to sponsoring scholarships to the value of roughly $200,000 each year, Westpac provides in-kind support in the form of mentors for the Lucy Mentoring Program, a program supporting women students. At UTS the program is offered to both engineering and IT students.

The Westpac Foundation is a scholarship fund with an exclusive focus on the education and advancement of Australians. The Foundation was launched as a gift to future generations of Australians to commemorate Westpac's 200th anniversary in 2017.

In summary:
  • Westpac's Young Technologists Scholarships will be awarded from next year
  • Worth up to $25,000 each, they are available to UTS information technology and ICT engineering undergraduate applicants who are currently in Year 12, completing the HSC
