A path-breaking international, double-degree program with a focus on strategy and innovation is being introduced in a new partnership between UTS Business School and Vienna University of Economics and Business (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien or WU).
The dual degree will allow students to complete the final two semesters of their programs at the host universities, enabling students to graduate with both the UTS Master of Business Administration and the WU Master of Innovation, Strategy and Management Control.
"The partnership between UTS and WU is a significant one that provides our students with access to a prestigious European university and a unique learning and cultural experience," says Associate Professor Chris Burton, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Programs at UTS Business School.
"Our students work in a globalised world and our programs reflect that in structure and content. WU is a critical partner in advancing our global network."
WU is the European Union's largest educational institution for business and economics. It is accredited by many European and international quality agencies, with high rankings for its programs.
UTS Business School provides integrative and practice-oriented business education within a leading university of technology, and is internationally recognised for its innovative research. It is also the first business school in Australia to be awarded five stars in the QS Stars Business Schools.
The two business schools share a common outlook in their interest in strategy and innovation, symbolised by both having new homes designed by leading international architects.
"This is a symbol of the level of aspiration we have at our schools – that academic life should be as good as the architecture…that the physical infrastructure symbolises what we are trying to achieve," Rector of Vienna University of Economics and Business Dr Christoph Badelt says.
Up to five students will participate in the program each year. The application process for UTS MBA students will be competitive and based on academic achievement and a personal statement. UTS Business School will award a scholarship of $2000 to successful UTS applicants.
This is the first double degree agreement for a UTS postgraduate business program.
