UTS Chinese students networked with prospective employers at UTS's first International Careers Fair focusing specifically on the China region. The recent event offered more than 150 jobs for future graduates, providing exciting opportunities for international students.
The fair was organised by the UTS Careers Service in collaboration with the UTS Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and supported by the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney.
More than 400 international students attended the event and engaged with major companies and employment consultants. Google Australia, Bupa Australia, Berlitz Australia, Goodwin Lawyers, AIMS, Auschain Investment, BridgeClimb, Dianpiang.com and CPA Australia were among the employers represented.
Students were able to speak directly with recruiters from world-renowned companies and gain valuable information about employment opportunities.
UTS Doctor of Philosophy student Cheni Jiandong said he welcomed the new recruitment event.
"The participating companies are actively engaged and we can have face-to-face contact with new media companies, financial investment companies, education companies and a prestigious world-class software company."
Manager of UTS Careers Service Julieanne O'Hara said the International Careers Fair was an exciting new event for Chinese students.
"This careers fair not only gives our international students the opportunity to engage with employers in their home country, but also provides our students with the knowledge and confidence to guide their professional career path."
Postgraduate business student Sun Zhuxuan agreed that the event was very important for UTS Chinese students.
"It offers a lot of opportunities for students who have not come into contact with major employers," Zhuxuan said. "The event not only lets us know about our career direction, but also connect us with major employers and their job opportunities."
"UTS students are highly sought-after," O'Hara said. "It's vital for our Careers Service to work closely with graduate recruiters and global organisations to give our international students the opportunity to explore their employment options post-graduation."
UTS Careers Service holds careers fairs throughout the year and also offers work-ready programs, careers counselling, job-search strategies and essential resources to ensure UTS students are equipped with key employability skills.
