Professor Fiona Brooks, UTS Faculty of Health
Fiona is a widely-published medical sociologist and expert in child and family health. She collaborates with WHO on a multi-national project investigating the health and well-being of school-age children and was invited by Public Health England to brief all UK senior school administrators on the relationship between health and well-being and attainment. She has been an expert advisor to the UK Cabinet Office, Public Health England and the UK Department of Health. Fiona is also Associate Editor of Health and Social Care in the Community.
Dr Laura McCaughey, UTS ithree Institute
Laura McCaughey is a visiting Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Research Fellow investigating the processes of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Working in collaboration with the University of Oxford, she seeks to develop new antibiotics to treat infections. In recent years Laura has shared the insights gained through her research at conferences and special events here and in the UK to grow awareness of the problem of bacterial antibiotic resistance and the actions needed to address the threat.
Nicky Ison, Institute for Sustainable Futures
Engineer and Senior ISF Research Consultant Nicky Ison is an expert in community energy, in policy and governance, energy options assessment and community-owned renewable energy. She has extensively researched local and international community energy initiatives and developed a deep understanding of the electricity market. She was lead author of the National Electricity Market Report Card produced recently for the Total Environment Centre Active in community and sector engagement through the media, workshops and conferences, Nicky is also Director and founder of the Community Power Agency.
